Stromberg Carlson RV Bunk Ladder

Need a safe way for your child to get in and out of their bed during those summer camping trips? This sturdy bunk bed ladder attaches to the side of their bed so they can quickly and carefully climb up when it's time to go to sleep. Because it's made of durable aluminum construction, it won't rust if the kids accidentally spill a drink, and the sleek black finish will complement the interior décor of your RV or camper.

Secure to Step On

Stromberg Carlson RV Bunk Ladder Steps

The stepping areas are grooved to give your child's feet some traction while they're climbing the ladder. If your kids forget to take their shoes off, they also help trap mud and debris onto the ladder so that their sheets won't get quite as dirty. And unlike other ladders that have sharp metal steps, the steps on this ladder have rubber padding that will be comfortable and soft on your child's bare feet.

Works with Any RV Bunk Bed

This ladder has a universal design because you're able to cut it to fit most RV bunk beds. Simply remove the rubberized feet and use a cutter or hacksaw (not included) to trim the ladder so it's a perfect fit. Keep in mind that the ladder should be tilted at an angle between 11 degrees and 12 degrees in order for it to provide the full weight capacity. Then re-install the rubber feet, which prevent the ladder from shifting around while your child climbs.

Offers You with Multiple Installation Options

Stromberg Carlson RV Bunk Ladder Hooks

This ladder installs in 2 different ways. If you don't want to do any drilling, you can use the pre-installed hooks to position the ladder anywhere you want along the rail of your bunk bed.

On the other hand, if the pre-installed hooks are too large to fit your bunk rail or if you want a more permanent setup, you can use the included mounting brackets and hardware to bolt the ladder onto the side of the bunk bed. To mount the ladder, replace the larger, pre-installed hooks at the top with the smaller hooks. Then attach the brackets onto the bunk rail, making sure they're 11" apart, before mounting the ladder.

Regardless of which installation option you choose, you'll be able to remove the lightweight ladder in the morning and carry it to storage. It's compact enough that you can tuck it away into a smaller closet or into one of the bunk beds during the day to clear up more space to walk.

Video Transcript for Stromberg Carlson RV Bunk Ladder Review

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com Today we're gonna be checking out the Stromberg-Carlson RV Bunk Ladder. Now it's gonna be a lightweight aluminum ladder. It takes nothing to hold it up or put it in place. It's really easy to install. You're gonna take these hooks here and you're gonna put them on the lip of your bunk and that's what's gonna put it in place. The hooks are gonna go here onto the bunk.

Fits right on there. I like how they sit right up against there. I used some other ladders, where there was a little space in between there; and that made it not as sturdy but as long as you pull out the bottom of the ladder, it should sit flush against the top of our bunk here. Once your ladder is secured you can just climb up into your bunk. Now it does have a weight capacity of 250 pounds, so just keep that in mind, but it feels pretty sturdy as I go up and down it, it flexes a little bit, but not too bad.

I don't feel like it's gonna break on me when I'm climbing up into the bunk. Looking closer at this step itself, it's gonna have a rubber outside that is removable. So even if this was to fall off or get damaged somehow, there is still some grip on the steps built in, but this just adds to it. I like it because it goes on there really easily and it really does help. It helps catch that shoe as you're going up or down.

Take a look at the bottom. We're gonna have rubber protectors on the end, so not only does it not scuff or scratch the ground, but also gives you some grip when you're climbing up and down. You don't want the ladder to travel because it is at this angle and keeps it right there in place. I wanted to show you how there's another option to mount your ladder. Now, the Stromberg-Carlson ladder comes with the brackets to install into your rig, and now I've mocked it up on this two-by-four here.

Not gonna be climbing a ladder on this. This is just for demonstration purposes but wanted to show you how it all comes together. So we're gonna have those two pieces. The flat end's gonna go against the two by four. This end's gonna go in the front. It even comes with the screws you need and you're gonna have to switch out the hooks on the end of the ladder. You see, these are a little bit smaller than ones we had earlier that I had clipped onto the rig. But now these fit in there for these attachment points, which I feel like these attachment points, if put on the wall, you see it slides back down in there, less likely for it to come back out, because it's not just behind it; it's down inside that bracket. So it goes in there a little bit deeper and gives you more security when you're going up and down that ladder. Overall, I like the bunk ladder. It's easy to put on there or take off whether you're using just this method or you have the brackets installed. Doesn't make a difference. You just lift it right up out of there, get it outta the way when you don't need it, or set up when you do need it. It's also it feels sturdier than some of the other bunk letters I've worked with. This one has a higher weight capacity, so I like that. Just a little bit more sturdy when I'm going up or down, which is all that important to get up in the bunk or get out of there whenever you need to. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped..

I bought this ladder to go with my daughter‘s bunkbed. The bed has a built-in ladder on the ends but the way the bed is situated in the room, it needed to be on the side. After some research, I found this one and it really is exactly the right thing for the bed. My main comment is that it’s a bit flimsy. I only weigh 150 pounds but she says it really bends when I climb up to her bed. If you weigh 200 pounds or more it is likely you will break it. It’s perfect for a scrawny seven-year-old however!

So it has been a year and the ladder is still working great. As I said a year ago, I don’t think you would feel very secure on it if you weigh more than 200 pounds but it’s been working perfectly for my daughter and myself this whole time — and will likely continue to work perfectly for a few more years at this rate! It is a very good product for the price. We just use the hooks and therefore it can be easily removed when needed to be out of the way.

Works as advertised. Did have to trim 18 inches, a little from each end since our bunk isn't that high. Trimmed with a pipe and tubing cutter without issue. Just be careful not to drop the cinch nut into the leg when attaching the bunk hooks. Best to put the bolt through the hook and thread the cinch nut onto the bolt. Then drop it into place. Learned the hard way, dropped one in, it slid down to the rung rivet and wouldn't slide back out. Fortunately I had right size threaded rod to fish it out.

Well, its been a year, and it is still being climbed on. it works like a ladder should.

This is good quality ladder, I cut it to fit our micro minnie 1700bh. Cut 11” off top pushed the screw holed out and put back in tube I cut 5” off bottom. Works great. Thank you

Pros:

+ Well-constructed aluminum
+
Very light
+ Soft pads for bare feet
+ Arrived promptly
+ Came with mounting hardware!

Cons:

+ Really only that, being aluminum, it's fairly bendy / flexible, and the instructions require that it not be used at greater than an 11 degree angle. Basically, it should be used almost straight up-and-down, so that the force of the climber runs parallel down the length of the long tubes. Other than that and you can feel how precarious it is! It would be easy to bend in half if used the wrong way

I placed the order for this product on a Tuesday, the Service provided was Excellent, for I received the item the follwing day!
I purchased this as an access ladder for my daughter's college dorm loft bed. I removed 3 inches from the bottom of the legs, placed the ladder at a safe angle, placed rubber boots back on, and the hooks on top latched perfectly to the bed. Made my daughter's life a lot easier, Dad WINS!

by:

We bought this to use as a ladder for a lift we just built for my daughter. The mounting options worked great for our needs. We especially like that it can be removed if needed and easily put back.

by:

We ordered 2 of the ladders for our egress windows in our basement.
Excellent customer service and follow up.

by:

For being a ladder that claims to hold a good amount of weight this feels pretty flimsey and will be getting returned. This does not feel like it will support the weight it claims and ended up being narrower than expected.

Good product and excellent service from etrailer.
